So I got to thinking about the G2. The biggest issue is the balance of resolution vs FOV. To get a feel for how the G2's FOV might look I compared the FOV's for my monitor and the Pimax in Normal and Small FOV settings. First an explanation. In the comparison you'll see 2 yellow rectangles for reference to a 16:9 monitor. The darker smaller yellow one is the external area you'll see. The brighter yellow one is the largest amount of aircraft you'll see. Changing the seat position to see more or less aircraft does not affect the amount of terrain viewed externally. This is a 2D issue not present in VR. When my Pimax is so generous to allow me to use it for short periods of time before becoming a paper weight again, I usually use the Normal setting. My guess is this is somewhere around 140 degrees. This is represented by the red rectangle. Today I set it to small FOV which is the blue rectangle and I believe approximates the FOV of the G2. Although the difference between small FOV and the monitor isn't too large when looking at the aircraft parts, when looking at the blue to the darker yellow external view it presents a larger chunk of the outside world than 2D. Then I decided to give it a tried in dogfighting and found I really didn't miss the additional FOV in that situation.
Bottom line is I would gladly give up FOV for clarity. If the small FOV comes close to the G2 I would be happy. Clarity is much more important than FOV.
Now I don't know if the G2 will match a monitors resolution, my guess is it won't, but it will be a step up from my Pimax on many levels. Seeing how it is the product of three well known companies, I think it is a way safer bet than anything Pimax has to offer.

LOLOL, 3 years and 6 days after my Kickstarter pledge I finally received the rest of the equipment. Now that the sim does not require parallel projections, fixed the zoom in VR, and other VR enhancements I may dust off my 8K once again.

A whole new head support with integrated headphones, new face pad, a base station, and a mystery in a tube I haven't figured out.
