Chaps
The recent (17 Jan 19) update has provided us with a number of new fusing methods for the General Purpose Bombs.
Dumb Bombs
- BDU76 Training Bomb - 76
- Mk82 - M82
- Mk83 - M83
- Mk84 - M84
These can be dropped in one of three modes. Auto where release is automatic, Continuous Computed Impact Point (CCIP) and Manual Mode. They have a mechanical contact fuse in the nose (MFUZ) and an electronic fuse (EFUZ) which can introduce a delay.
Options:
Modes = AUTO, CCIP, MAN
MFUZE = OFF, NOSE, TAIL, V/T
EFUZE = OFF, V/T, INST, DEL1, DEL2
Setup:
Master Arm ... ... ... .... ... ... LIVE
Master Mode . ... ... ... ... ... Select A/G
DDI ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... MENU (B3) / STORES (L1)
Select Delivery Mode ... ... MODE (L1) / CCIP (L3) or AUTO (L1) or MAN (L4)
Select Bomb . ... ... ... ... ... Mk83 (T3)
Fuze Bomb ... ... ... ... ... ... MFUZ (L2) / NOSE (L2)
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... EFUZ (L3) / INST (L3)
Cluster Munitions
- CBU99
These need to release their bomblets before arriving at the ground. So the MFUZ allows for variable timing (VT) and a height (HT) setting for the bomb to release the bomblets.
Setup:
Master Arm ... ... ... .... ... ... LIVE
Master Mode . ... ... ... ... ... Select A/G
DDI ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... MENU (B3) / STORES (L1)
Select Delivery Mode ... ... MODE (L1) / CCIP (L3) or AUTO (L1) or MAN (L4)
Select Bomb . ... ... ... ... ... RAT (T5)
Fuze Bomb ... ... ... ... ... ... MFUZ (L2) / VT (L3)
Select Release Height .. ... HT (L5) pressed repeatedly until the required height is indicated on bottom of the DDI.
Select EFUZE ... ... ... ... ... EFUZ () / INST (L4)
The EFUZ should be set to instantaneous so the canester immediately open at 1500 to release the bomblets.
Laser Guided Bombs
- Mk83 Laser GPB - GB16
These bomb have their mechanical nose fuserelaces with as laser guidance vanes so only have an EFUZ. The EFUS can be set to either INST or DEL1 or DEL2 which will allow the bomb to kinetically penetrate the target before the bomb is detonated.
Setup:
Master Arm ... ... ... .... ... ... LIVE
Master Mode . ... ... ... ... ... Select A/G
DDI ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... MENU (B3) / STORES (L1)
Select Delivery Mode ... ... MODE (L1) / CCIP (L3) or AUTO (L1) or MAN (L4)
Select Bomb . ... ... ... ... ... GB16 (T2)
Fuse Bomb ... ... ... ... ... ... MFUZ (L2) / OFF (L1)
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... EFUZ (L3) / INST (L3) or DEL1 (L4) or DEL2 (L5)
