I was patrolling at 15,000 feet between Midway and the IJN fleet-when I spotted a Zero scooting towards a wayward Wildcat. I nosed pver-and after about fifteen seconds-I I pulled within 500 yards-I gave it a 2 secod burst-and was showered in the parts of a disinegrating tail section-it ripped the tail right off. I had to take evasive action to avoid the cokpit. I checked the Wildcat back to base, and landed after he was down. It felt good
