Saturday June 17, 2006
2100 Washington D.C. Time
WELCOME
Welcome to Saturday Night At The Fights! We’re glad you could join us on our objective based mission server. Statistics are unimportant here as in actual combat. The side that achieves its objective is the victor. In the following you will find the rules and information that you need to fully participate in this week’s session.
We need ideas for future sessions of SNATF and will gladly host appropriate missions. Volunteers are needed to help with forums admin, session hosting and mission writing. Please contact us as we want to make this a community event with participation by all! To join in, please click on the FORUMS link to the left.
OVERVIEW
When we last left the virtual war in the Pacific, US Naval forces had sunk both the Zuikkaku and Shokkaku in the first battle for the Solomons Island chain. On the heels of the loss of Shoho, Hiryu, Soryu, Akagi and Kaga the Imperial Navy is at a loss for fleet aircraft carriers. The Pacific Fleet came through the maelstrom unscathed following the successful landings of Marines at Guadalcanal despite heroic attacks by the Empire’s best naval aviators.
All navies operate in a hostile sea and frequent maintenance is needed to keep ships in a state of combat worthiness. The USS Enterprise (CV-6) and USS Hornet (CV-8) have returned to Pearl Harbor for refit. In short order they will return to offensive operations along with the USS Saratoga (CV-3) on her return voyage from the West Coast of the US. The Empire is not sitting idly by. Imperial shipyards have been working around the clock to ready the newest carriers for duty and the naval flight schools churning out fresh aviators.
Meanwhile the bloody combat for control of Guadalcanal and the seas surrounding the island continues…
